Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a condition that should be evaluated, diagnosed and treated by your entire medical team. This may include your primary care physician, ENT, Dr. Dargham as your dentist, orthodontist, oral surgeon, and sleep study centers, among others.
Treatments may range from altering behavior patterns in mild cases to surgery in more advanced conditions.
These may include:
- Losing weight
- Avoid alcohol/sleeping pills
- Avoid sleeping on your back
- Stop smoking
DENTAL SLEEP APPLIANCE THERAPY
Dr. Rita Dargham has invested time in educating herself and her team about the various appliances available today. These are removable, custom-fabricated dental / snore devices that help keep the airway open during sleep. This option is gaining wide acceptance due to its ease of use and effectiveness in reducing, or eliminating, nighttime snoring, and in allowing for a better night’s rest. More involved options, such as the CPAP machines, are at times the only options for those more advanced cases of sleep apnea. However, they are also associated with less compliance and effectiveness.
Please consult with Dr. Dargham about the various appliances available to assist you and your specific condition.
Please contact Dr. Dargham and her team to schedule your initial consultation. For your convenience, Dr. Dargham welcomes patients in one of two locations (Coconut Grove Dental Clinic and Biscayne Blvd. Dental Clinic), both located in the heart of Miami Dade County.
